…says Nicola ( Silver Sixpence In Her Shoe)…I’m thinking…I have no idea what that means! But then she shows me the most amazing headpiece which I instantly love. The ‘birdcage veil’ is like a fascinator with a small net face veil…very vintage but very modern and ultimately very me!!!
I tried on a few at The White Closet and then Alex whisked me over to The Met to meet Nicola who is the lady behind ‘silver sixpence in her shoe‘ the bespoke handmade wedding acessories! I couldn’t contain my excitement at the beautiful array of pieces Nicola had spread out on the table! Bows, lace, ribbons, vintage buttons, pearls, diamante’s…every magpies’ dream come true! I loved them all but one piece in particular stood out and I loved it the second I laid eyes on it. It turned out to be the birdcage veil that Nicola had made for her very own wedding! The original silver sixpence in her shoe piece…the one that started it all! It is so beautiful. Understated lace roses, gorgeous cream net with added fluff, tiny pearls dotted everywhere just to finish it off! I had to have it!
I also chose a lovely headband with feathers and sparkles galore with the intention of wearing one for the wedding ceremony and the other for the celebratory drinks afterwards! Trying to think of an excuse to take them all was a bit much plus with my backpack only being 55 litres I need to reign it in!!
Nicola has kindly alongside Charlotte Balbier offered to lend me a piece for the first wedding…wherever that may be…and I absolutley jumped at the chance.
I cant believe how generous everyone has been already and how quickly we are gaining momentum for the first wedding! At the same time we have packed up house and planned a ‘garage’ (minus the garage) sale to make sure all our beloved belongings go to good homes! Its all taking shape and time is flying by! Only one more sleep in our bed before we head back to Yorkshire to say our goodbyes to our families and friends!
Its going to be an emotional week! Wish us luck!
