We hate Pop Up’s too, can you help us get rid of it!?
Our project is established but our site is new and although we have weddings specialists in over 60 countries it’s going to take time to get everyone on the ship. If you can’t find exactly what you want please get in touch and if you are an awesome wedding specialist or you know people you want to recommend let us know.
If you want to get married in a castle and you like beer you can probably stop searching for the perfect place right now, we have found it for you. You should head straight to Czech Republic.
The beautiful land-locked country boasts over 2,000 castles, keeps and castle ruins, one of the highest densities in the world, meaning that there are plenty of wedding venues to choose from. The Czechs are also very good at throwing a party; they consume the most beer per capita on the planet. No wonder we like Prague so much!
Getting married in Czech Republic is the same as most European countries. If you are two non-Czech nationals or if you are marrying a Czech citizen there is a lot of paperwork involved, all needs to be translated and a good chunk of time is needed to arrange matters but it IS possible! Characterized as "tolerant and even indifferent towards religion" the Czechs specialise mainly in civil ceremonies as Czech Republic has one of the least religious populations in the world.
However, you can arrange a religious ceremony or a civil ceremony and there are some stunning locales to do so.
Surrounded entirely by mountains the country has a temperate climate with warm summers and cold, cloudy and snowy winters. June, July and August are the best months to visit for a summer wedding however rain is a risk all year round.
The Czechs, aside from being known for their beer drinking antics are also known for their stunning capital city Prague, so much so it is the 6th most visited country in Europe. The Charles Bridge, the oldest working astronomical clock which is incredible to see as it changes hour and the famous Prague castle all make Czech Republic stand out from the crowd.
The countryside is green and lush, the cities ancient and brimming with history of incredible excitement and the medieval towns with their re-enactments of hangings and other fun medieval pastimes are like none other we have ever experienced. An incredibly safe country to visit filled with friendly locals to share a bar with; the country has a lot of appeal as a wedding destination. The perfect place to explore with a plethora of world famous spa's to soak travellers weary feet afterwards. The famous West Bohemian spa triangle can claim superpower status when it comes to spas having helped numerous Kings, dignitaries and super famous composers relax and unwind in the depths of natural curing waters. The list of available Spa treatments is endless and what a great way to prepare yourself mentally and physically for your wedding!
The Czechs also make a mean Goulash and the crepes are to die for. Bought on the street and served in a folded cardboard sleeve with nothing other to protect you from the lava hot chocolate sauce than your tongue. Third degree burns will ensue, as will the need to sit down whilst the danger of diabetic coma passes.
Sounds like a perfect place for a destination wedding and honeymoon rolled into one! Castles, beer, spa's, beer, medieval towns, beer...what more could you ask for?
Prague. The City of a Hundred Spires
We exchanged vows on a bear skin at a Medieval Banquet in full Medieval costume including LOTS of hair extensions! We danced and slammed cups of beer on the tables in a smoky barn and ate lots of meat! The wedding was such great fun, as was the show at Detenice. Highlight – Our amazing costumes provided by Autentika and getting a rather intimate kiss (with tongues) from an enormous snake!
We would love to feature more weddings in the Czech Republic right here!
