Great news, we have confirmation of our second wedding ceremony! As
always it will be happening very soon – Tuesday 5th July 2011. No time to dawdle.
After searching high and low for a great location and whilst pulling our hair out in busy Montreal we stumbled at random onto the ‘east townships wine route’! ‘Sod it’ I said lets take a few days to ourselves and do 3-4 days cruising round a wine route in Peggy just relaxing tasting great wines.
So Lisa jumped behind the wheel and I set to work deciphering the apparently ‘easy to read’ wine route aptly called the ‘Route des Vin’. As I worked out it was quicker to go from vineyard 4 straight to 16 and avoid 7 all together as its only open for 1 hour a week, I noticed www.vindeglace.com.
Right at the end of their little advert in the Route des vin i saw ‘also hold wedding events’. Taking note but not thinking that much of it we continued on our one and a half hour drive east.
Vineyard 1,2,3 and then 4 where the creation of ice cider was born all where amazing places. The wines are like nothing we had ever tasted. See our blog ‘De la Route des Vins’ for more. We then got some sleep and the next morning decided to head over to vin de glace, they do group tours and tastings of their vinyard every Wednesday for $25 dollars and the timing was perfect.
We were not even through the gates before the realisation that this was without a doubt the next wedding location! Call it a gut feeling. The Vineyard is situated in the bottom of a lush green valley of canadian evergreens, the temperature droped almost instantly to a refreshing 22’c from a blistering 36’c.
Quickly parking up we sprint down the path to catch up with the tour as we were running a typical 10….. 15 minutes late. I blame the sat nav, Lisa blames me!
We are kindly greated by John who explains that the tour is mainly in French but if we stick close he will translate the good bits!
The first thing that struck me was the attention to detail, even the drain covers where cast in the vineyards emblem. Behind us towards the top of the valley sat an Italian style villa and behind us cut out of the valley edge was a perfect cut stone entrance to one of the vineyards cellars. We continued the tour down through the individualy pampered vines which leads down a winding path to the lake.
Not just any lake mind! This lake is perfectly located at the bottom of the
valley, handily in the middle of the vineyard…. oh and its in the shape of a heart, has a wooden board walk and a stone henge style arch to lead you onto it…… This really was just the begining of an amazing tour around a very unique place that will be our second wedding location……
The ceremony will be on the 5th July 2011 if you can’t make it in person I hope you will enjoy reading about it and finding out more about the first place we fell in love with.

Just thought I’d give a little update from our side, to let you all know, particularly the friends and family back in England who couldn’t be here to see it for yourselves (and of course all other readers!): It was a magical wedding, with a charming and adventurous couple in the spotlight, great fun and love in the air. Actually it was a wonderful change of pace and angle for John and I as well, as we sat on the vineyard terrace with Bride, Groom and guests, enjoying icewine toasts, then continued with more wine and stories. Usually we’re running for something, so sitting and chatting in the middle of the day with an eclectic group was pretty special ! We’re still wrapping ourselves around the whole idea of the 2-year trip for Lisa and Alex, which is just so different and special. We wish them all the luck for the future, may they enjoy all the roads ahead, stay safe and healthy, and we look forward to catching up with their continued journey in this blog!!! Oh, and PS: I think they’re on the road now, so until other pics and video footage are available from the travelling couple, do see the photo album on our facebook page posted today; Vignoble Chapelle Ste Angès. If you want to keep up with our developments, join us as a friend on facebook, if you like. We look forward to meeting you when you’re in this part of the world. Ciao, Karena and John
