The gang had late lunch time flights out of Cusco so we met early as Luis and Freddy still had so many ideas and so many places they wanted to shoot.
We met Luis, Freddy, Patricia, Julio and Roxana at Hotel Monestario and I got to wear the ‘waterfall dress’ again and we walked into the stunning monestary. We were getting to see so much that we would have otherwise missed while in Cusco so we enjoyed our surroundings as we did the shoot. We stood in front of the ornate gilded altar and laughed and giggled at the places poor Roxana and Julio had to crouch to place lighing around the room.
We stood on the steps and I watched the skirts of my gorgeous dress flow out behind me and ever further behind me my gorgeous veil.

Once we had finished there we walked into the square for pictures in the Plaza de Armas. As soon as we got outside people flocked around us. Patricia seemed to know everyone and they all wanted to know our story. Alex ran to Peggy to get some of the postcards that Tania had designed and Luis and the gang had had printed for us and Patricia spent her time handing them out and explaining our story while we were busy having our photographs taken on a hundred phones with everyone in the quickly forming gang of people! It was great fun and everyone hugged and kissed us and wished us ‘Felicidades’.
Luis had to practically pull us out of the crowd to get us to the plaza and as we jumped down the steep steps towards the square we passed a group of about 30 5-6 year olds out on a school trip. Every single one of them wanted a hug and a kiss from ‘the princess’ and we were happily mobbed all over again! They all wanted to hold my hand and to touch my dress, they were so excited! We all posed for a picture and as Luis snapped away they all shouted ‘Queso’ we laughed and pried ourselves away as we were getting nearer and nearer to 1pm and had to rush so the gang didn’t miss their flights.
The plaza was the same, as soon as people saw us they all wantd to kiss us, hug us and wish us well. Patricia ran around handing out postcards while Luis tried to snap pictures around the crowds. Eventually he put his camera down and shouted to everyone to please step aside so we could take some pictures. The gang ushered everyone behind an imaginary line and quickly went to work taking some shots.
It was so exciting, surreal and totally unexpected to have so many people want to wish us well. We had one last shot with all of us together, taken by a reporter that just happened to be passing as we were being mobbed.
He followed us back to Peggy, asking questions and having them translated by Patricia all while we changed into our clothes and packed up Luis’s car in a rush. We had to make sure we had wrapped everything up, that there was nothing we had forgotten to give back and that it all went in like a jigsaw puzzle to make it all fit.
The gang were running late and thankfully that made the goodbyes short…I am terrible at goodbyes. We all hugged and squeezed each other and we wished them a safe journey and I just managed to wait until they started the car and waved as they drove off to burst into tears!
I was going to miss them so much. We had had so much fun all of us travelling on the road together, going through Peggy’s mood swings together, getting excited for our adventures and their own adventures together, having a wedding together and mostly becoming great friends over the time we had spent together.
We just flopped into Peggy’s seats and as my tears dried we realised how exhausted we were, and how exhausted they must be. We totally hit a wall and when we finally came back around we tidied up Peggy and went to get some food. We ate pizza and ceviche and took time to think about what a crazy ride we had been on for the past few weeks with some of the greatest people we have met on our wild wedding adventure!

Lisa, the photos in front of the altar are breathtaking…so ethereal! I can’t imagine the album (s) you are going to have when this adventure is done. If there is a way to publish a book of your adventure, with the photos, you guys should totally do it.

PS…love the jeans under the dress!
That dress is amazing… I LOVE it! If we right a book you will be one of the first to get a copy for sure! Jeans under the dress….. I had to get dressed in the street more than a few times so i always go prepared. ๐
I liked the peek at the jeans too ๐ It really brings it down to everyday levels….practical, having fun kind of day….perfect “exposure” to your everyday photo shoots. You’ll be a seasoned wardrobe couple and you sure do get the photographers who can capture it all for you.
I love your dress too….you will be hard pressed to decide ( if you have the opportunity to choose) between all of these beautiful gowns for the REAL event)….or maybe Tabitha will be THE ONE….certainly she has done you proud on many of these wedding shoots so not to be sniffed at.
And as for both of you, Lisa & Alex, I send you lots of love and again thank you for my gorgeous bouquet which I received this past week. Most of the flowers are still going strong and I just keep them in fresh water with some more plant food each day…and Bob’s your uncle ๐ The freesias were a lovely touch; sadly they were the first flowers to ‘pass’…but your thoughtfulness will always be remembered.
Happy trails, happy visit with mom and here’s to the safe arrival of Peggy in a few weeks’ time in the USA.
STUNNING!!!!!!!!!
