So while you are all probably scoffing the turkey and trimmings and tidying up the wrapping paper from the piles and piles of pressies we are just waking up. Its certainly not snowing but we can live with that! Alex has gone to make me a Christmas cup of tea in bed ( I’m hoping he will bring me a bucks fizz instead…but we will see) and we will lay and listen to the Ocean for 10 mins and then get up for a great breakfast with Alex’s Mum. Janet has dragged a bag of pressies half way across the World from our family back home for us to open this morning and we have enough Christmas cards to open a shop. We are so lucky to have her here with us for Christmas.
But…it just isn’t Christmas to me without the cold miserable weather, having to be all snuggly and warm in your PJ’s and lighting the fire before opening your pressies. It just isn’t the same without the riot of family around you, waking you up at an unreasonable hour after wrapping way into the night with a bottle of wine with my Mum and sisters while my Dad snores loudly in the middle of it all. Its not about the presents or the weeks of preperation, its about family and people you love as I’m sure you all know.
So today, as we cant be with ALL of our family and loved ones, we will have a Mexican Christmas here with Janet and a virtual Christmas with everyone back home. We are looking forward to spending the day on the beach and of course cooking and eating while my Nephews in the UK are coming down from the excitement and no doubt e-numbers of the day.
I just wanted to wish you all a very Merry Christmas wherever you are in the World and however you celebrate.
We are looking forward to sharing more of our adventures with you all once we get back on the road…and fingers crossed we may have a Mexican wedding coming up soon too!
Thanks for following our dreams!

Merry Christmas my friends!!
Thanks! Merry Christmas to you and Mary. xx
I expect all the gifts and cards you’ve received via Alex’s mom have been most welcome despite reminding you of the miles of ocean separating you from family and friends at Christmas. It’s lovely that Alex’s mom could join you for the couple of weeks and it will be proving a nice break for you from hitting the road every day, being able to settle down in your beach house for awhile 🙂
We’ve had a hectic day here (Brenda and Bryn and 4 grandkids came this afternoon…plenty of chaos opening pressies and then the traditional turkey dinner). They’ve all left for home now and the grandkids were looking pretty shattered…not to mention parents and nana & grandpa and Uncle Dave….lol
I’ve thought of you both today and it was nice to come onto FB tonight and read your blog….blessings to you both.
Glad to hear you had a great day! Thanks for the pictures of the hair clip and the family. 🙂
The merriest of Christmases to you!!!
To you to Lorena and a Happy new year. Hope Seattle is treating you well?? xx
And a Merry Christmas to you. Hae you seen the pryamids as yet? Is that a part of the plan? We used to stay in Merida right on the malecon. Love the wind blowing through the fronds at night……oh how I envy you right now. Actually I don’t, we are having a mild winter so far and it is almost the first of January. Have a great time down there, can’t wait for the next part of the trip. So happy for you, Have a happy and safe trip, xoxoxoxoxoBARB
Hi Barb, We are staying just near Merida up in Telchat Puerto. The wind is very welcome as it is getting hotter everyday. The village we are staying in is very Mexican. The breadman opens at 3-4 the vegetable shop 10-11 and the butcher shop everyother day between 9-11! We spend most of the time running around the shops! Despite running down the beach each morning at 7am i am yet to catch the fisherman! xx
Merry Christmas Guys, hope you had a great time, and Lisa, don’t worry, it wasn’t very cold here! x
Thanks Tillie, We had a great time lazing on the beach! Merry Christmas to you to! xx
