After the ceremony and a couple of drinks to settle our nerves we had some photographs taken by Johnny draper (an absolute superstar) and the press outside the Met. We were so very lucky as the sun was still shining despite the forecast saying it was going to rain all afternoon!
First stop on the beautifully presented schedule was Rhubarb for canapés by Rhubarb and Thyme out and lovely little individual heart shaped cream cakes courtesy of the dish ran away with the spoon and not forgetting plenty of wine. And all things nice had decorated the restaurant with gorgeous paper heart bunting and balloons, the stunning candelabras draped in flowers were there and to make the atmosphere absolutely perfect was Zoe playing acoustic guitar and singing…she has an amazing voice and my nephew Luke (2) especially was mesmerised by both her voice and her smile!!
Plenty of wine and every crumb of food gone we all enjoyed the sunshine for a while and then headed over to Pinchjo’s for Pimms ‘o’ clock with some fiery little Spanish tapas while next door at love to eat jugs of alcohol free fresh mint cocktails were readily flowing as where the amazing pots of strawberries and cream, adorned beautifully with colourful hundreds and thousands and white chocolate drops…perfection on such a sunny day!
The kids were kept entertained by the bigger kids (the men!) with connect 4 and huge jenga while the adults sipped Pimms and cocktails in the sun and lined the street laughing and chatting.
Next on the map was eagerly anticipated by all…fish and chips at Frankies fish bar with a fabulous English champagne from reserve! What better way to finish a perfect day than with fish and chips in paper cones with lashings of salt and vinegar and a glass of bubbly?! Alex’s sister raised a toast to our adventure and to congratulate us on our first wedding and 12 bottles of champagne later we returned all happy and with full tummies to The Met to relax our feet and reflect on the day.
Sadly the day was also for family farewells but we all struggled to be too sad after such an amazing day and all waved goodbye with smiles and just a few secret tears. All in all it was a perfect day and one I will never ever forget.
I cannot, sorry, WE cannot express enough our thanks to the 26 businesses involved in making the day so very special. Alex could never have done it without all of you. The community spirit and willingness to think outside of the box is a testament to you all and I have never been so proud to be part of such a big team effort to produce something truly original and spectacular!
With genuine affection and huge thanks to all involved!
Lisa and Alex…2people1life!
