16 – 30th October 2012

The next day we slept until lunch time, took advantage of the bath and lounged around in our dressing gowns until we were hungry. We fancied burgers again so went on a hike across NYC to find a recommended Shake shack! We took a few wrong turns and after walking almost the full length of 5th Avenue and Central Park we grabbed a cab for the last few blocks, enjoyed our burgers and spent the late afternoon pottering around the city. Alex treated me to some new t-shirts and tights to keep me warm and we bought a picnic for the room to have for dinner with our gifted bottle of wine from Sandra.
Staying in the Carlysle was such a treat it seemed a shame to be out all of the time! We ate parma ham and cheese and crackers, drank our bottle of wine and tried to process the last 3 weddings over the previous 5 days! What a whirlwind it had been!
We had an amazing time being footloose and Peggy free but we still had several days before we could collect her from Texas. We decided to go back to LA and spend a few more days with the gang there.
We left NYC the next day, arrived in LA and caught up on sleeping, laundry and of course with our friends. We picnicked in the park, cooked, played zombies on the computer, hung out, worked on the blog and of course drank wine by the box!
The new look blog launched while we were in LA. We also had another meeting with Joe Digital, one of the production companies we had met with the last time we were in LA. We talked more with Pete and Zach abut the possibilities of creating a documentary type program about our journey. We had been very dubious of this before our meetings but after meeting with Joe Digital we felt comfortable with working alongside Pete and Zach to create something to see if there is interest out there in our story. I made rock cakes for breakfast (they were dreadful) and we talked some more about this.
We also made fondu for Sandra to thank her for the wine and as an excuse to catch up with her again before we got back on the road and we also ticked the San Diego Zoo off my bucket list. We borrowed Aarons car and drove down to the zoo for the day. We had a great day and the zoo is fantastic but I still get such a sad feeling leaving a zoo. I decided then that I don’t need to visit any more zoo’s. We have been so lucky to see so many of the animals in their natural habitat that seeing them in captivity seems so sad. We stopped in Orange County for fish dinner, then popped in to see Petra and Victor. Victor played our wedding march last year at our Vampire wedding. We got back to the apartment and crashed the hell out!
Our last few days in LA were spent finalising wedding plans for New Orleans, carving melons and pumpkins into sharks for Aarons Shark attackiversary (also now the anniversary that we met Aaron and Megan). We collected some outfits for our special wedding in Louisianna from Donna at Clockwork Couture and even went to a ghost reading before we left LA to go to collect Peggy!
We crammed so much in and were excited to get back to Peggy and back to life on the road but sad as always to say more farewells to our LA family!
