We hate Pop Up’s too, can you help us get rid of it!?

Our project is established but our site is new and although we have weddings specialists in over 60 countries it’s going to take time to get everyone on the ship. If you can’t find exactly what you want please get in touch and if you are an awesome wedding specialist or you know people you want to recommend let us know.

30th August – 3rd September 2013

As per the norm the hardest thing about this entire adventure is having to say farewells to every new friend we meet. We spent the morning after the party at Veasna’s saying fond goodbyes to Fabio at the Swiss Diamond and exchanging contacts with Marian and making plans for the future, plans that would definitely mean that our paths will cross again.

Farewell lovely friends

We waved tearfully as we drove away but reminiscing about the fantastic time we had enjoyed during our stay. Lugano is absolutely a place we would love to live, so beautiful, peaceful and stylish and of course, filled with great people!

We settled into the drive to our next destination…Rome, Italy!
Mitra and Fabio had been waiting for us for years just like Robert from LuganoWedding. We had a mere 4 days to get to them before our next wedding and we really wanted to get there as early as possible, we were looking forward to hanging out with Mitra, her husband and their family of furry babies and baby bump growing by the day!

The drive through the north of Italy was not really what we expected, Alex had never been to Italy before (barring to Lake Como) and had great expectations of one of the most visited countries in Europe. However, the North of Italy is very different from the south. We popped into Genoa and visited the aquarium (the last one we will go to)Β and were harangued by illegal traders on the dock, we drove through farmland and small ramshackle villages, past litter like we have seen in central America and huge areas of fly tipping! We were both shocked and a little saddened!

We had high hopes for Italy and had been trying to learn a little of the language with Rosetta Stone so that we could converse with basic words but met a frosty reception from anyone we tried to speak to. Arriving at a camping site we tried to check in only to be told that the lady sat in reception (who were speaking to) didn’t start work for another hour so we would have to sit and wait. We sat and waited for one hour then she allowed us to enter the park. We paid and parked up and went to use the bathrooms…which turned out to be appallingly dirty and not even european toilets!

The only reason we were paying to stay there was to use the showers and facilities but a cold shower and a dirty hole in the floor was not worth the price.

We demanded our money back and left in a cloud of dust, we stayed that night by a pretty lake and the next day we hit the road hard to the city where we could meet with Mitra and Fabio and settle in to our amazing home from home in the centre of Rome!

We are the Planners‘ have a GORGEOUS boutique apartment and we were invited to stay, we could not wait to arrive! We turned up a day early and called them apologising but it was no problem for them, we were welcomed at their parents home where we could park Peggy. We met the family, Fabio, Ma and Papa and the doggy babies and then Fabio drove us into Rome to the Colosseum where Mitra works as a tour guide…and not only your average tour guide, but a gorgeous, 8 month pregnant, winner of ‘tour-guide-of-the-year-award’ tour guide!

We met Mitra as she finished work and after years of emailing we felt instantly at ease! We went to drop our bags and to coo at the beauty of the apartment and its gorgeous name, Litiberi Suites and then in true Italian style went straight to a local restaurant for an enormous lunch!

The apartment has been in Fabios family for years and the restaurant we visited had been a part of his entire life. We ate cheese, ham, prawns, squid and amazing pasta with pork cheek and divine sauce and washed it all down with great wine while we nattered away and were brought up to speed about the wedding by Mitra. Next they took us on a personal tour around the most famous sites of Rome, the most delicious gelato shops and coffee houses and then we all went back to the apartment to collapse and eat some more!

Fabio cooked us a carbonara fit to make our hearts stop…it was AMAZING! As part of the deal with the apartment you can have Fabio come and cook for you, one of Italy’s finest chefs ready to cook anything your heart desires is a pretty amazing commodity let me tell you!

That night we slept like logs and were ready to take on Rome again the next day! We found a local fruit and veg market and demanded that we cook to return the favour for Mitra and Fabio and collected the ingredients we needed to spend the morning preparing a feast for that night.

In the afternoon we went to Romes largest park with a bag full of gorgeous dresses and took a few warm up shots in the huge green area that no-one would ever expect to find in the middle of such a city.

Gorgeous light, gorgeous dresses and GREAT shoes!park loveWe walked for hours through fields spattered with wild rocket, mint and daisies. The sun speckled us through the trees and we soaked up the peace and serenity after such a hectic few days in the city! We were so happy to be in such a beautiful part of Italy with great people!

Dinner that night was a disaster, we blame the pressure of having a top chef at the table but we were full of wine, reasonable food and good cheer and ready for the wedding day that would greet us the very next day.
